February 9, 2018 - 7:00pm

In this joint event, memoirists Gayle Brandeis and Andrea Jarrell will share the stories behind their recent books. Brandeis’ The Art of Misdiagnosis is the story of her mother, who disappeared shortly after the birth of Gayle’s youngest daughter, and the complicated history of mental illness that her mother experienced. Jarrell’s I’m the One Who Got Away explores another riveting mother-daughter relationship, this one about how the escape from a violent and alluring man helped forge a deep, unique, and unusual bond between Jarrell and her mother.
