Gar Lasalle - Widow Walk

October 18, 2018 - 7:00pm

Seward Park

In the early days of the American Pacific Northwest, small settlements dot the wilds of streams and dense woods. Isaac Evers, a community leader and former militiaman, has established a small colony on Whidbey Island. Though the area appears calmer than in the past, the northern indigenous clans still threaten the livelihood of Isaac's growing family. Bold and assertive, Emmy has little time for the restraint of social mores.

Ed Harkness with Alicia Hokanson - The Law of the Unforeseen

October 18, 2018 - 7:00pm

Lake Forest Park

The Law of the UnforeseenĀ is about family, history, family history, the natural world--its beauty, its degradation--the strange miracle of consciousness. I write about the blues, failure, great apes, time passing, icebergs, massage therapy, the Civil War, crows, bats, potatoes, spoons and drones. Nothing is off the table. In fact, everything is on the table, including the fabled kitchen sink.

Maureen Healy - The Emotionally Healthy Child

October 18, 2018 - 7:00pm

Ravenna

While growing up has never been easy, today's world undeniably presents kids and their parents with unprecedented challenges. The upside, cites Maureen Healy, is a widespread acknowledgment that emotional health, resilience, and equilibrium can be learned and strengthened. Healy, who was a "wild child" knows her subject. She has become an expert on teaching skills that address the high sensitivity, big emotions, and hyper energy she herself experienced.
