Booktoberfest: Hallowe’en Horror Hour

Had enough of trick or treaters? Come get your own spooky treat! Grab a drink from Raconteur, sit back and enjoy Hallowe’en Horror stories at Third Place Books, Seward Park. Remember how it felt when Hallowe’en was truly scary? It’s the perfect pre-function for that Hallowe’en Party - costumes welcome! Your humble haunted reader will be David Wright, emcee of the popular Thrilling Tales: Story Time for Grown Ups staged twice each month at the Central Library. This reading will last about an hour.

If you love spooky stories, you may also want to check out Ghastly Tales and Cocktails, October 24 at Lottie’s Lounge in Columbia City, and October 26 at The Conservatory in Georgetown, and ‘Ales from the Crypt, at Floating Bridge Brewing on October 28, and Tippe & Drague Alehouse on October 29. Scared of the dark? Join us for five Mondays of Ghost Stories at the Central Library, Noon – 1 p.m. Monday, October 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30! These story times will repeat some tales from the evening events. Bring lunch, bring a friend: we’ll supply the chills.

This program is a part of Booktoberfest. Join us this October as the Library visits your favorite bars and pubs for Booktoberfest, our annual celebration of books, beer and good cheer. Join us in venues across the city for bookish happy hours, librarian-hosted trivia nights, spooky stories in bars and libraries, Karoake, Books a la Carte and Literary Fortune Telling! Look for Booktoberfest Beer Coasters at all events, and at various venues all across the city. Find our full roster of events at www.spl.org/booktoberfest

All are welcome! Registration is not required. This event is free, although drinks and food are not. It will run for about one hour, so don’t be late!
