Pacific Northwest-based author Jesse Edward Johnson's novel is laugh-out-loud funny and moving, an ideal combination for young adults. Lester Smith, the main character, is a high school senior in a small, seaside northwest town. He cares about three things-- his only two friends, John "Johnny" Milton, and the yearbook committee. When a new teacher takes over AP Humanities and Yearbook simultaneously and tries to shake them up, Lester is dismayed. His Holden Caulfield-like wit shines through in this truly engaging read.
