Seattle Kraken Book Match!

Few things surpass my love of books. But hockey might be one. And most definitely the Kraken. With the post season coming up and sadly no playoff berth in our future, you, like me, might have a little extra time on your hands. So here's a Kraken book match to celebrate your favorite NHL team and hopefully keep you busy until October.

Yanni Gourde
He's scoring goals, he's making assists. Getting stitches mid game from pucks to the face. He's chirping, he's buzzin'. And when he's on the ice, he's literally everywhere. For this chatterbox, you can't go wrong with the frenetic storytelling and humor in Bob Odenkirk's memoir, Comedy, Comedy, Comedy, Drama.

Jamie Oleksiak
No, this isn't an ironic title pick... One time, I dropped A Little Life by Hanya Yanigahara on my foot, and I'm guessing that's about 3% as painful as a hit from the Big Rig.

JT Brown
He's the Kraken's best dressed. Sorry boys, your gameday threads just can't compete. Check out the Power of Style by Christian Allaire for the most fashionable TV analyst in the league.

Jared McCann
This guy just signed a 5 year contract! Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman. Because 4000 weeks of Jared MaCann's rocket of a shot still wouldn't be close to long enough.

Ron Francis and Dave Hakstol
For their scorched earth moves before the trade deadline, The Broken Earth Trilogy by NK Jemison. This scifi juggernaut has some major rebuilding vibes that just might remind you of something... I know, I know, draft picks are important.

Adam Larsson
For someone quietly having one heck of a season, Grit by Angela Duckworth.

Davy Jones
My Dog Tulip by JR Ackerly. A dog lit classic. A story about the unexpected yet unparallelled love between man and dog. Ackerly's quest to bring joy and happiness to Tulip's existence will warm Davy's doggie heart.

Philipp Grubauer
For our German Gentleman, The Visitation by Jenny Erpenbeck. Explore 100 years of German history told through the lives that pass through a lake house near Brandenburg. This translated novel from one of Germany's most celebrated writers is a powerhouse, just like Gruuuuuuu.

Carson Soucy
And finally, because sometimes on my tiny tv, at just the right angle, Carson Soucy's jersey looks like it says "Soupy," Let's Make Ramen by Hugh Amano and Sarah Becan.
