I don't want to alarm you but you have approximately 77 days. That is 77 days until the end of the world or the end of Book Bingo which is basically the same thing. Put on by Seattle Arts & Lectures and the Seattle Public Library, every year you are given 25 squares (+ one free space!) to help guide your summer reading. Read a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line and get a bingo for a chance to win a gift card from an independent bookstore like us! Complete the whole card and you'd be entered to win one of their three grand prizes! So whether you're in it for the glory, the loot, or for the joy of reading, you're bound to read something good this summer.
We're almost halfway there! Maybe you were on the fence and you're worried you're too late. No such thing. I think their bingo engineers do a great job of delivering well-balanced squares every year so you have some easier ones like 'Read outside' and 'Blue cover' and some more specific ones like 'Unreliable narrator' and 'Sci-fi or fantasy by a BIPOC author.' What I like about book bingo is that they give you the opportunity to knock some titles off your TBR list as well as venture out to different genres or authors you normally wouldn't venture out to. And maybe you're stuck, nothing's tickled your fancy for a particular square. I got some recommendations for you to help you finish up that bingo or blackout!
Out of the 25 squares, I got 16 covered for you. You're bound to find something on this list that will check off a box or two and be something you like! Check out our Staff Picks page for 'Recommended by a local bookseller' square! And the library's Peak Picks page for 'Recommended by Library staff or Peak Pick' square!
