Staff Reviews

Cinderella Smith is sweet and feisty and Wove herself right into my heart with this delightful story. She has a penchant for loosing shoes, hence her nickname. Her refreshing way of handling the ups and downs of friends, jealousy, and tap dancing pageants makes this a must-read for girls everywhere. It’s fun but also important reading for kids navigating the world of friendships new and old. Coupled with illustrations by Caldecott Honor winner Diane Goode, this is truly a gem!

— From Patti H.

Cinderella Smith has problems with a capital P. Her new teacher laughs at her name, she has to sit at the smart-boys table, and her old best friend is ignoring her. Now the new girl, Erin, has asked for her advice on wicked stepsisters. But Cinderella doesn't have any stepsisters, wicked or otherwise! And to make things worse, she's got to find her ruby red tap shoe before the fall dance recital!

How will Cinderella solve her capital P problems before it's too late?

About the Author

In between tripping over abandoned shoes, chasing after escaped pets, and searching for lost belongings, Stephanie Barden wrote her first book, Cinderella Smith, which was followed by Cinderella Smith: The More the Merrier. The author teaches classes at Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, where she lives with her husband, Tom; son, Joe; and eighty-pound lapdog, Otis.

Diane Goode is the illustrator of more than fifty beloved and critically acclaimed picture books, including the Caldecott Honor Book When I Was Young in the Mountains by Cynthia Rylant. Inspired by the handwritten letters of the Founding Mothers, she begins with their quill and sepia handwriting and spins out the line to re-create their images and the remarkable events of their lives for a new generation of young readers.

Praise For…

Chapter book readers will love this light-hearted story of a missing dance shoe, escaped pets and possible wicked step-sisters
