This book left me simultaneously sated and starved. The way Zhang describes food–you can smell it, feel it, taste it. In a near-future world where smog has devastated plants and animals alike, an unnamed chef goes to work in a reclusive community sheltered from the reality outside. There, she discovers what she is willing to do to survive. Land of Milk and Honey brings a whole new essence to “eat the rich.”

How do you play the game when the system is designed for you to lose? Outwardly, Nelah has a perfect life. Her world, however, is plagued by the criminalization of her body, infertility, and a contaminated sense of reality. Tsamaase presents us with a grotesque reality in which a woman’s body is criminalized, privacy does not exist, body-hopping is commonplace, and the government has the ability to alter memories and your sense of reality. This book left me speechless.

Feral Creatures By Kira Jane Buxton Cover Image
$18.99
ISBN: 9781538735251
Availability: On our shelves now at one or more of our stores
Published: Grand Central Publishing - June 28th, 2022

Feral Creatures--a stupendous sophomore novel for Buxton, and a more sentimental sequel to my favorite adventure story of 2019-- cannot be missed! It's a colorful education in climate change, ecology, and zoology; a tender acknowledgement of the unavoidable  "dark tides" we all sink into; a genuine display of the hopeful, hilarious, and often fearful process of building a family; a true odyssey.

Oh, and there are  *chilling*  new animal/human/zombie hybrids to war against your favorite profane crow, a wild child, and their quirky cast of comrades...so again I say YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS!!
